One morning, the 2F students came across a website address in a classroom storybook.  When I arrived for my Early Literacy class, they were very excited!  They had memorized the website and persuaded me to check it out.  Talk about being excited about reading!  We were not able to email the author on the website but found some information about the author and the story.  Click here to visit the site.

The Grade three students recently heard the story "The Spider and the Fly".  The book is based on the poem written by Mary Howitt in 1829.  The book is full of amazing illustrations and rich language.  We used the book to prepare us for the literature circle activity "Vocabulary Enricher".  Click on the picture of the book above to visit Tony DiTerlizzi's website.  "The Spider and the Fly" is a Caldecott Honour Book.  The Caldecott Award is given for outstanding illustrations. Read about the Caldecott Award by clicking this on this link.

I will check out our library for more books by Tony DiTerlizzi.
